Dr. Jonathan Ridenour
Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Growing up in Tyler, Dr. Ridenour, went to college at Baylor University to pursue a business degree. His passions quickly shifted toward the study of humanity (psychology) and the soul (theology). After earning a bachelor's degree in psychology he went to Dallas Theological Seminary to acquire a counseling degree. In the process, he began to become aware of the complexity of the human condition and desired further training in the field of psychology. He switched majors and graduated with a master's degree in Biblical studies.

From seminary, Dr. Ridenour continued his education at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon; specifically because of their integration of spirituality and psychology. He earned a second master's degree in psychology and a Doctorate in Psychology. His studies focused on clinical psychology, specifically insight-oriented therapy and psychological assessment. He also completed his dissertation which was presented at the American Psychological Association's annual conference on the topic of social responsibility, religion, and spirituality.

Afterwards, Dr. Ridenour went to Louisiana State University Health Science Center at New Orleans for his psychology internship where he honed his training and acquired additional experience with children and adolescents. He was certified through the Harris Institute in Infant Mental Health (ages 0-5). After completing his education, he moved to Dallas metroplex, where he worked in private practice. Since, he has moved back to Tyler to work for CAET. At CAET, he specializes in psychological evaluations with all ages, including neuropsychological assessment.

His perspective on psychotherapy is from a psychodynamic bent that examines bio-psycho-social-spiritual issues to form a holistic and dynamic view of the person. Dr. Ridenour helps patients on this journey towards addressing their symptoms, gaining insight into their behaviors and cognitions, and alleviating their distress. He works with the patient to customize their treatment that best suits the patient's immediate needs and long-term goals. For children and adolescents, he approaches therapy from a systematic approach that examines the family structure and helps the parents to understand the issues and aid in the treatment. For couples, he tends to view the relationship as the patient - the one that is in need of repair, healing, and forgiveness. His passions in the field of psychology are for the betterment of the whole person - to instill hope, find peace, to love oneself, others and The Higher Power.
